Roatan is the largest of the Bay Islands and is approximately 35 miles long and 2.5 miles wide. It has gentle, lush, rolling hills with clear turquoise waters and spectacular beaches and harbors. Roatan is one of the three islands known as the Bay Islands located approximately 35 miles off the coast of the Republic of Honduras which lie in an arc in the Western Caribbean sea. There are three other smaller islands approximately 8 miles off the coast, which are inhibited by native tribes. English and Spanish are the primary languages on Roatan. The people are extremely friendly and welcome all foreigners with open arms.
